Behind the Rail: A Factory Tour of Precision, Performance, and Compliance

Behind the Rail: A Factory Tour of Precision, Performance, and Compliance

Observing the manufacturing process provides designers with insight into the many steps required to bring successful products to market. Join us on an in-depth 3-hour tour of our manufacturing facilities where participants will be able to see firsthand the technologies employed to create code-compliant railing systems, including multi-step powder coating process, in-house product testing, and state-of-the-art stainless steel component milling operations.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify how raw materials enter the facilities to maximize product flow efficiency. Describe raw materials procurement, and supply chain management to create a final product that is not only code compliant but will also ensure the safety of installers and occupants.
  2. Explore steps of the powder coating process, from initial washing phases through final inspection. Learn about the LEED V4 capture and recycling of raw powder for future applications involving sustainability, safety and code standards.
  3. Explore the steps of stainless-steel milling and parts fabrication as well as discuss the materials supply of domestic melt stainless-steel, and how it assists specifiers to meet the requirements of the Buy America, Build America Act.
  4. Observe and inspect the products through their various stages of assembly through packaging. Observe workflow, understand how the new technologies employed produce kitted railing products or stainless-steel components that once specified, will be an integral part of a durable and rigid building project.
  5. Evaluate and meet with the Product Engineering team to discuss product testing, and development as well as observe facility in action with safety as a priority throughout the whole process.
