Thursday, November 14, 2024 Season 1, Episode 4

Innovative design meets technological advancements in door activation, locking, control, and access products, focusing on enhancing occupant safety, health, and welfare. In this course, participants will examine the extensive range of solutions, including wireless and touchless technologies, restroom control systems, and high-performance locking mechanisms. With a focus on the impact on building security, occupant well-being and an emphasis on ADA standards and building codes compliance, participants will learn of the newest iteration door technology. Through detailed conversation on the practical applications of this door technology and hardware, participants will gain insights into market trends, regulatory requirements, and the industry’s future direction. We will cover the integration of new technologies such as power harvesting in wireless switches and microwave sensors for touchless activation and address the design and implementation of restroom control systems that ensure privacy and ease of use for all occupants. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to design and specify advanced door control systems that enhance accessibility, security, and user experience, promoting health and safety in various building environments.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the key innovations in wireless and touchless door activation technologies and their role in enhancing occupant safety and reducing the spread of germs.
  2. Analyze the impact of high-performance locking systems on building security and occupant welfare, with a focus on compliance with ADA standards and emerging building codes.
  3. Evaluate the design and implementation of restroom control systems that meet new accessibility requirements, ensuring privacy and ease of use for all occupants.
