Yukari Kubo

Yukari Kubo is a licensed architect and Materials Specialist with Brightworks Sustainability in Portland, Oregon. She has more than twelve years of experience in architecture and 20 years working in the construction field. Her work is dedicated towards reducing the carbon and toxicological impacts of the built environment. Yukari engages closely with a variety of stakeholders – including architects, contractors, owners, and manufacturers, to provide transparency in building materials to her clients and create synergistic relationships to promote low carbon manufacturing, product selections, and design choices. As a LEED BD&C and International Living Futures Accredited professional, she assists her clients, including many Fortune 500 companies, not only with their internal goals and carbon commitments, but provides guidance around alignments between certification systems and works with design teams to achieve LEED and ILFI certification. With her background in Environmental Science and Toxicology, Yukari routinely bridges the gap between healthy materials and embodied carbon providing a wholistic picture of material impacts on our built environment for more informed decision making. Yukari received her master’s in architecture from the University of Oregon and her Bachelors Degree in Environmental Management from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
