This course explores the building science behind rainscreen assemblies and ventilated wall systems, emphasizing the role of capillary breaks, drainage gaps, and airflow in protecting occupant health, safety, and long-term building durability. Participants will review the four primary wall design types, examine how evolving IRC and IBC code requirements and ASTM E2925 testing standards influence specification decisions, and discuss common causes of moisture-related failures. Through practical insights and real-world applications, the program highlights best practices for coordinating cladding, air barriers, water-resistive barriers, and drainage components to create resilient, code-compliant wall assemblies that support indoor environmental quality and sustainable building performance.
With a Master’s degree in Architecture, Megan has a unique blend of technical expertise and practical experience. She has a foundation in architectural design and an understanding of both design and construction processes, honed through years of hands-on project coordination and fostering on-site relationships. Currently, as a Specification Consultant, she works closely with architects to introduce innovative new products and navigate the latest advancements in the industry.
Keith Lolley is the President of Advanced Building Products, Inc., a leading US based manufacturer of entangled net technologies. Keith also serves on the board of directors for Advanced Building Products, along with being past co-chair of the Rainscreen Association in North America (RAiNA) Residential Committee. Keith was also a founding member of the Building Enclosure Moisture Management Institute.
